SysML

IBM Rational has introduced Systems Modeling Language (SysML), “a general-purpose, graphical modeling language for product and systems development”. This is an add on and integration with UML, designed to mitigate the disconnect during the conceptual stage where you need to trace the realization of requirements in the product. This allows for system modeling not (technically) covered in UML 2.0.

Follow this link for Part 1 of an introduction in The Rational Edge.

To me, this has always been the hardest part (concept really) in software development.

One Response to “SysML”

  1. I probably shouldn’t call it an “add-on”. It is based on UML and really bridges the gap with new models. I know many people who have made this work without the SysML standard but now we have something to follow.

    Dugg here.
